A brief guide to Certificate II in Hairdressing

The Nationally Recognised WRH20106 Certificate II in Hairdressing is a pre-vocational level qualification best suited to people with little or no experience as a hairdresser.

In this highly practical program, you’ll learn about salon etiquette, teamwork, workplace health and safety, how to meet, greet and prepare clients for salon services, shampooing and basin services. We’ll also train you to remove hair colour, confidently communicate with clients, recommend hairdressing products and services and coordinate client visits to our commercial salon. Members of the salon’s professional team, will also introduce you to simple blow-drying techniques and learn how to perform a relaxing hair and scalp massage.

Entry requirements:

Minimum successful completion of Queensland school year 8 or equivalent.

Course Dates:
Continuous enrolment.

Study options:

Fast Track:
27 week program. 23 weeks study of 20 hours per week minimum. This course also includes a requirement for 120 hours of vocational placement (6 weeks @ 20 hours per week).

School-based trainee:
Earn while you study. One day per week industry employment plus academy attendance arranged between you, your school and your employer.

VET:
12 month program. One day a week or fortnight plus part school holiday attendance.
