High School Programs

There are two options for students wanting to start their hairdressing career early:

1. High School VET Program   (see course outline)

Spark’s VET Program is perfect for students who want an introduction to working in a salon environment. Students will complete Certificate II in Hairdressing, where they learn about salon etiquette, teamwork, workplace health and safety, how to meet, greet and prepare clients for salon services, as well as shampooing and basin work.

High School VET is a fantastic stepping stone towards a hairdressing career. After completing their Cert II, students are employable as a salon assistant or a Level 1 apprentice. This is the course that will help them get a hairdressing apprentice or introduce the basics of the Certificate III in Hairdressing qualification.

Attendance options:
12 month program. Attend 1 day a week or fortnight, and during school holidays.

2. School Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships    (see course outline)

Students who select this option are ready to work in a salon and get trained for their Cert III hairdressing qualification at the same time. To get involved, students are employed by a salon as a school-based apprentice and elect to train at Spark Hairdressing Academy. Students are paid casual rates for their work in the salon.

Attendance options:
1 day a week or fortnight, plus 1 day a week (or equivalent hours) working at a salon (includes weekends, after school, or block periods during holiday).
